Location: Blackpool, Mereside, Northwest Division Police Headquarters

Commissioned in 2017, We All Make Mistakes, is an artwork commissioned to mark the opening of the new North West Division Police Headquarters.

The neon light-work is situated on the outside wall of the headquarters. Its simple but unifying intention is to highlight the importance of good communication between those that work here, those that live nearby and the wider community that the police serve.

The variation in the sail speed is controlled through a variable speed dial set into the reception desk and controlled by the duty officer. The speed set reflects the work inside the headquarters and how busy the duty officers ‘feel’ they are on any given day. The artwork emerged from workshops and conversations with the Mereside M.A.F.I.A (Mereside and Friends in Action).
