The artwork within the glass walkway of the newly refurbished ‘Platform’ building is aimed to be experienced from within and without. In an attempt to play with the structure of the whole building, the undulating light installation within the suspended glass walkway, acts as an unreliable strata upon which the building sits.
Sampled geometric designs create an optical illusion of depth and movement from the outside looking in. The use of light block out vinyl, creates a complete contrast between the pattern and the lights. People using the corridor are highlighted in a theatrical sense, (characters in the life of the building), with the block-out vinyl literally breaking up the figures as they pass through the ‘scene’.
From the inside looking out, the strong rectangular forms also constantly reframe views of the cityscape of varying sizes, making the viewer constantly reconsider and readjust views and vistas from different aspect point along the
